Finding a wedding band in Dumfries and Galloway starts with a fact everybody down here has worked out for themselves: it's a fair old drive from where most of Scotland's bands are based. The short answer is that the area is well covered and the mileage is already in the price you'll be shown, so it isn't the problem you might be bracing for.
Coast has been booking wedding bands across Scotland since 2009 and handles over 2,500 events a year. Down this way our acts play Mabie House, Auchen Castle and Hetland Hall, among plenty of others. If you're getting married somewhere we haven't named, just ask. Among seventy-odd acts there's usually somebody who has worked it.
The timing problem nobody warns you about
There are fewer bands willing to travel this far south than there are for the Central Belt. That's the whole story of booking wedding entertainment in Dumfries and Galloway, and it cuts both ways. For a summer Saturday, the acts who do make the trip get snapped up early and you're competing with everyone else in the region for the same shortlist. For a Friday, a Sunday, or anything between October and April, you'll have far more choice than you'd expect and often better prices with it.
So the advice depends entirely on your date. If you're looking at peak season it's worth moving now, and if you're off-season or midweek you can take your time over it and enjoy the browsing. What you shouldn't do either way is assume you've left it too late without checking, because that assumption costs a great deal more than the check does.

Coast was started by two working musicians and it's still run by the same pair with a small team around them. Acts don't get taken on because they've paid to be listed. They get taken on because we've watched them work a room, usually more than once.
