How much time do you need for set up & sound check?
We need 1 hour to get fully set-up and complete our sound-check.
What are your standard performance times?
8pm - 12am with a 30 minute break.
I'm not sure what my timings are going to be yet, is there any flexibility on the standard timings?
We are happy to be flexible on things like start times to make sure our timings suit your running order. We can also extend the night, eg. for a 1am license, for an additional fee.
How long do you take for your break? Are you able to play background music during this time?
We take a 30 minute break. Yes of course, we can play our own playlist or you can send us your favourite songs that you would like to hear during our break.
Can I pick the songs that you'll play on the night?
We cannot guarantee learning new songs, however if you have a few favourites from our current setlist that you would love to hear on your night, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.
Will you learn our first dance if it's a song that you don't already know?
Absolutely, as long as we have enough notice we are happy to learn and perform your first dance song. We understand this is a very special moment for you and we are keen to discuss all the details with you to ensure that we perform your first dance song to the highest standard.
Can you take any requests on the night?
We are happy to perform your requests as long as we know the song. If you or your guests ask for something we’re unfamiliar with, we can play the original version through our PA system so you won’t miss a beat.
My venue has a 1am license, do you offer an extension to keep the night going until then?
Certainly! You can select either an extra hour of live band performance or a disco set. These options are available for you to add for an additional fee when you are completing your evening entertainment booking.
Do you offer any other add-on options?
We provide an acoustic daytime reception set featuring both male and female vocals, with Weronika and Matthew on acoustic guitar. This set includes a mix of modern hits and classic soul, jazz and blues standards for your guests to enjoy.
Additionally, we offer an acoustic ceremony option, where we perform your chosen entrance, signing of the register, and exit songs. Availability for this service depends on the venue, location, and our calendar.
Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?
Yes, we provide all of the performance equipment on the night.
What do you think your clients love most about your performances?
We are often complimented on our infectiously upbeat stage presence and guest interaction. We strive to deliver high energy performances which guarantee to fill the dance floor and have your guests dancing all night!
We are well known for our amazing female and male lead vocals which bring a variety of different styles and moods to our repertoire. Our exceptional three part vocal harmonies provide an incredible boost to our performances and ensures your guests will be singing along to their favourite songs all evening!
Which artists are you most influenced by?
A great question, but a difficult one to answer. Each member of The Rainflowers draws from different influences in their musical style, and we combine those to create our own unique sound and provide as diverse a set list as possible.
As a unit, we definitely represent some of the great artists of the past, such as Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Whitney Houston, ABBA, Etta James, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and Daft Punk
Can you provide a ceilidh set? If so, could you give us more info about this - how long does it last, what instruments do you play, can you call the dances for our guests?
We can offer four dances which takes around 30 mins on average. We will call all the steps throughout the set for you too. We do not have traditional ceilidh instruments, but can provide a great ceilidh sound with a modern twist.
When a couple books you, what's the first thing you do? Walk us through what happens from the moment you're confirmed.
We get in touch with couples who book us as soon as possible. We invite couples to ask us as many questions as they can think of about how we work, what we offer and what we can do to make their night extra special! We also let couples know the choices they have in terms of song selection, ceilidh options and first/second dance choices. There is no rush to decide straight away, but we know how important it is for couples to know their options in advance!
How much contact do you typically have with the couple before the wedding? What does that look like - emails, calls, a planning form? How often, and who in the band handles it?
We welcome as much contact as possible to ensure couples get exactly the service they are looking for. Matthew handles the majority of communication with couples and is happy to have contact over email, text, calls or video calls... whatever couples prefer! We also invite clients to come along to any of our public gigs, we love to meet couples in the lead up to their wedding! Don't worry if you are a super relaxed couple and would prefer us to just get on with it and do our thing without loads of communication... we are happy to take the lead and let you get on with organising the other aspects of your wedding!
When a couple sends through their first dance choice, what's your process? How do you arrange it, how long does it take, and what makes a great first dance choice vs a tricky one?
We love working with couples on their first dance and how we can make it as perfect as possible for them. Whether it is choosing between female or male lead vocals, cutting out sections or arranging an acoustic stripped-backed version, we want to hear your ideas! We even had a couple rewrite the lyrics to a Taylor Swift song for their first dance! We are also happy to record a rehearsal room version for couples to practice their dance to prior to the wedding!
If a couple requests a song that's not in your repertoire, how do you handle that? Where's the line between "we'll learn that" and "that one won't work for us"?
We offer every client one more request in addition to their first dance. We pride ourselves on being able to have a go at almost any request. Having female and male lead vocals from Weronika and Matthew, alongside a lineup which features both guitar and keyboard, we feel we have the perfect 5 piece band set up to tackle most requests. We will of course be up front about requests where our version might sound slightly different from the original and will be happy to discuss how we will rearrange your requests to fit our style!
Beyond the first dance, what other moments in the evening can couples personalise? How far can they go with making the night their own?
We want to offer as much creative control to couples as possible and are happy to hear what songs from our repertoire are their favourites!
Unfortunately we don't offer couples the ability to choose our entire set. While this might seem a bit unusual that we don't gaurantee this, it is because we require the freedom to work instinctively during the night, amending the set list as we go as sometimes certain styles and genres will be going down a treat for your guests and some might not be working quite as well.
This allows us to really work professionally throughout the night and ensure we provide the best evening possible for you and your guests! Please trust that we have a lot of performance experience and will be able to work out during the show what is working best for your guests.
We also offer also 4 ceilidh dances, couples can choose how many they would like and where they would like to have them throughout the night. And if you aren't sure, we recommend right before the evening buffet to really work up an appetite!
What information do you need about the venue beforehand? Are there common venue issues couples should flag early - noise limiters, access restrictions, small stages, power supply?
We have worked in many venues all around the country and rarely run into any issues. Despite being a 5 piece band we can pack ourselves into a surprisingly small space. We also have no issues with sound limiters! All we ask is that we have a solid, flat and stable surface, access to electrical power and are sufficiently sheltered from any potential bad weather!
How do you coordinate with the venue staff or wedding planner? Is there direct contact between you and them, or does that go through Coast?
We are more than happy to have discussions with your venue and planner. We welcome couples to pass our contact details on or to provide us with contact details so we can keep in touch to make sure everything runs smoothly!
What do you wear on stage? How do you think about your look and presentation for a wedding?
We keep things classy and timeless for our wedding performances. The guys are all in black trousers with white or black shirts and the occasional tie or waistcoat, and Weronika fitting in with a similar style of black trousers and blouse or an elegant black/patterned dress. We have lots of pictures and videos on our Coast profile/Instagram that highlight our general style for weddings. If you have some ideas or requests for us for your wedding, such as wishing us to be more casual, we'd be happy to hear them to see what we can do!
What happens if a band member is ill on the day? What's your contingency - do you have dep musicians, and how does that work in practice?
We have a lineup of professional musicians available to dep with us in the rare emergency occasion where someone becomes unavailable. All of our potential deps are professionals who work in the wedding entertainment industry and have rehearsed and performed with us on many occasions. They can fill in as a like-for-like swap that you would hardly notice!
On the day itself, before you arrive - is there any final contact with the couple, venue coordinator, or planner to confirm details and timings?
We will always have all of our details and timings confirmed well before the day itself so that everything is in place. We will of course be available to be contacted on the day, should there be any last minute changes from your venue or planner.
For couples who've never booked a live band before and are nervous about what to expect - what would you say to reassure them?
I think one thing about our band is that we love what we do and we also love each other. While we work together in a band, we are also great friends and I think that shines through not only in our performances but also in our willingness to make every night a success. We attend every wedding with the same positive, fun and professional energy that we took to our very first wedding! One thing that comes up again and again with our clients is that they have great fun having us not only at their wedding, but also in the organisational period in the lead up. The planning doesn't need to be stressful, we strive to make it as exciting and enjoyable as possible!
What happens when you arrive at the venue? Walk us through the logistics - load-in, setup, soundcheck. What does that process actually look like, and what would the couple or venue notice?
We don't need anything from you when we arrive. We want our couple to carry on enjoying their wedding, not worrying about our arrival and set up. It takes us 1 hour to load in, set up and soundcheck. We can do all this with your guests in the room or not and are happy to work with your venue to make the process as smooth as possible!
If you're due to start at 8pm, what time would you normally arrive? What factors change that - venue access, distance, complexity of setup?
We always arrive between 6.45pm and 7.00pm, regardless of venue location. This gives us more than enough time to get fully set up and sound-checked before the first dance!
How do you approach the start of the evening? Do you call the bride and groom onto the floor? How much of the first dance do you give them before inviting others in, and how do you read when to make that call?
We find that every wedding is different, and every couple has their own preference about how they want to approach their first dance. Some couples prefer to be announced in and some prefer not to be... some want to have the full first dance to themselves and others want their guests to join quickly. We aim to have all these arrangements set prior to the wedding day, either through communication with the couple or their planner, so that there is no confusion on the day! And if there is a last minute change of heart (as there often is) that is no problem for us, we are happy to adapt anything to make your moment extra special!
How do you decide what to play next during the set? What are the signals you're reading from the crowd, and how quickly can you change direction if the energy shifts?
We love having the freedom to work instinctively during the night, amending the set list as we go as sometimes certain styles and genres will be going down a treat for your guests and some might not be working quite as well. We have such a broad and diverse repertoire that we can quickly change styles to suit the vibe on the dance floor.

How do you structure the energy across the whole evening? Do you build to a peak, keep it high throughout, or work in waves? How do the breaks fit into that?
We like to keep the energy high throughout the whole evening! Regardless of the style or genre we are playing at that time, we want to keep your dancefloor alive and kicking. We believe we have a genre for everyone at your wedding and can keep an exciting vibe going all throughout the night.
How do you deal with live requests from guests on the night? What are your rules of engagement - do people come up to the stage, is there a system, and how do you handle requests you can't play?
We are happy to hear requests from your guests for songs but unfortunately we won't be able to play them all. We can invite guests to take a look at our song list and choose any songs they want to hear and let us know!
You offer a live ceilidh set - talk us through exactly how you perform it. Who calls the dances? How do you teach the steps? How do you get reluctant guests involved without making anyone uncomfortable?
The ceilidh is one of our favourite parts of the night. We love the relationship we get to build with you and your guests as we get them on the dancefloor and take them through the steps. We don't force anyone to get involved, but we find that our friendly and inviting attitude means we never have any issues filling the floor with willing dancers! Ryan will take to the dancefloor with you to demonstrate the steps, while Weronika calls the dance. The ceilidh is never not amazing fun, we guarantee you and your guests will love it! The current 4 dances we do are The Gay Gordons, The Dashing White Sergeant, Strip The Willow and The Military Two Step.
How much do you interact with the crowd between songs? What's your style - chatty and MC-like, or let the music do the talking? Do you make announcements if the couple asks?
We love building a relationship throughout the night with you and your guests and we will feed on any natural fun interaction between the stage and the dancefloor. What we don't do is have long periods of chat throughout the night, stopping in between songs for MC-like 'bits'. We believe the best way to keep the dancefloor busy and the energy high is to keep the tunes rolling quickly and keep the unnecessary chat to a minimum.
For couples who've booked your DJ set as well - how does the handover work between your live performance and the DJ set? Is it a seamless transition or a distinct changeover?
We can change over to a DJ set from a live set almost instantly. There is no awkward silent gaps, just a seamless transition from live performance to DJ set, keeping your favourite tunes coming for another hour!
What's your approach when something doesn't go to plan - a late-running meal, a change to the schedule, a technical issue? Can you give an example of how you've adapted on the fly?
We are always prepared for things not going to plan. Changes to the set times are a very regular occurrence and not something that phases us in the slightest. We are happy to tackle any issues that come our way without worrying the couples. In terms of technical issues, we never get worried about this either, we have an abundance of back-up equipment ready to go in the band van, should anything ever go wrong!
How do you handle venues with noise limiters or sound restrictions? Does it change what you do, and would the couple or guests notice a difference?
We are very regularly working in venues with sound limiters and it is no problem to us. We perform with the exact same energy and enthusiasm that we normally would, with the front of house speaker volume slightly turned down. If your venue has a sound limiter, it is nothing to worry about at all!
What does the dancefloor look like at different points in the night? If I was standing at the back of the room watching, what would I see at 8.30pm vs 10.00pm vs 11.30pm?
We believe we can keep a busy dancefloor all throughout the night. The diversity of our repertoire means we can adapt to all the different characters in your guest list, giving everyone at your wedding loads of opportunity to get up and boogie to their favourite tunes!
How do you close out the evening? Is there a go-to finale approach? How do you decide when to end on a high vs giving the crowd one more?
Towards the end of the night we will build up the energy more and more through all out classic party favourites for everyone, before capping off the night with the traditional Scottish songs, Caledonia and Loch Lomond, bringing everyone together on the dancefloor for an amazing finale. If you have other ideas for how you would like the night to end, we would love to hear those from you!
How do you know it's been a good night? What's the thing that tells you "that was a great gig" - is it something you see, something the couple says, something you feel on stage?
Feedback from couples at the end of the night means the world to us. It is so amazing for us to see that we had a part to play in making couples wedding day a beautiful success. Often times couples might be busy saying their final farewells to their guests at the end of the night, but we always know from the packed dancefloor and interaction with the guests throughout the performance that it has been a great night for everyone!
What's something couples often tell you after the wedding that they didn't expect about the live experience? The thing that surprised them.
One thing that surprises couples about us is our versatility and range. The regular switching between male and female lead vocals means the performance and our set list is always evolving and taking guests by surprise all night.
What's your single favourite moment or memory from a wedding you've played? The one you always tell people about.
One from recent memory is performing for a couple who are both boxers. They asked us in secret to cut their first dance song short and burst straight into eye of the tiger, where they then began to shadow box on the dancefloor. This was one of the most hilarious yet wholesome moments we have experienced and we were so happy to have gone the extra mile to make this moment possible for them, their families and friends.
