We offer a 4 hour set as standard with a half hour break. This is usually from 8pm until 12am. 

We’re easy-going guys, where possible if we can make wedding planning a bit easier for you by coming and going a little on timings – we will! ? 

Yes we provide our own sound system and lighting.

Main things for us is clear access. If the way in is full of guests it can be challenging. The clearer the way in to load in the equipment the better. Noise limiter present a challenge in the sense that we have to balance the sound differently, so knowing this in advance is a big help. we use In ear monitoring and we don't use guitar amps to try and control the sound more, this definitely helps because it doesn't effect what we hear on stage. Small stages can be an issue too. I think it's always worth checking with the venue the size of the bands they've had or even getting some dimensions so it can be figured out. Some couples have sent us room layouts before and that can help in some instances. making sure adequate power is on stage is very handy. A power supply central or one each side usually really helps

When we arrive we check in with the staff, we usually ask for the coordinator, we check in a half hour before set up time if not before. they will go through the run down sheet they have with u to cross reference and we work closely with them to help make the night go smoothly. we also work closely with the videographers and Photographers to make sure were all aware of timings and the crucial parts of the night. They let us know what they needs and vice versa

We have many deep musicians we can call on. This is rarely the case but it's a like for like replacement

So we usually give ourselves around an hour before set up time for gigs. Just in case theres traffic. When we arrive we check on with the staff and let them know we've arrived and get load in instructions if we need them, for instance at a new venue we've never played.

We usually use this time to go over the details of the event and again double check all details between us. When the staff give us the green light we get in swiftly and we always push ourselves to get things done as quickly and professionally as possible.

We've no guitar amps which cuts down set up time and we use cutting edge digital gear so that the majority of the sound set up is done, that leaves us with minor tweaks to make again which cuts down set up time. As soon as were done with final checks we pop background music on and info the staff that were ready

We usually arrive for gig that are a little further away an hour before set up. If it's more local then 45 mins to a half hour before set up time is fine. If it's a venue with a tough load in or one that's time consuming we take a note of this. we would in that case leave extra time. If its say Glasgow city centre and the access is time based, no access roads till 7pm, then we park as close to that street, check in with the staff and make our move bang on 7pm

This is becoming a common thing in venues so we've adapted and continue to looks at further ways to adapt. The main tow factors we've changed is the use of top class digital guitar amp simulator pedals. Fortunately the technology of these things is so advanced that we would struggle to tell the difference between an amp and these pedals. that makes it so much easier to control volume wise. Another thing that's hugely helped is the use of In ear monitors. We have the same mix in our ears every night which means if its a quieter gig the energy is just the same for us and that reflects to the audience

We take 30mins for our break but we’ll put a playlist on for you during this. It’s no bother if you want to give us your own playlist for this part of the night. 

The band are dressed in smart black shirts and trousers and black shoes with the exception of myself fronting the band, but I also dress smartly but maybe in a different colour scheme

We're really a lot on reading the room. Its hard to explain but you just feel the energy of the crowd change and you know its because a particular genre or vibe is working for them. Having said that we do keep the songs varied. We've had people come up to and say I wouldn't listen to that particular , band, or song but I liked how you guys didi it. The idea for us is to keep people continually surprised and entertained and most importantly keep them on the floor

Structuring the night is like second nature to us. After playing hundreds of wedding a year were very in tune with how to build up the points of the night, how to flow one bit to the other. Keep them dancing, keep them surprised and keep the energy of the night fresh and flowing. Every night different and requires and different structure, pace and feel and we absolutely sold ourselves around that

We always try to accommodate requests. even if we dot know the song wed play something close, ay the same artist but a different song. There has been instances where we don't usually play the song but it's been familiar and we tell the crowd we'll have a go. They're alway pretty surprised that we pull it off which is fun. We do wear IN ear Monitors, therefore we can hear people when we are playing, but we give a little friendly shout to the crowd to let them know if they come up in a break between songs and ask us we will try to accommodate their requests

We differently bring a cool vibe to the party but we focus on keeping the songs coming thick and fast, most of our crown work is during songs, getting them to join in singing the chorus back. We all have wifeless packs so overnight we'll get on the floor and get involved with the crowd. Have to admit when we first did this I didn't think much about it but the crowds love it. We do seize any opportunity to have a bit of banter with the crowd. We find this pretty easy, I guess its just experience

We work between us to see where we can claw back some time. Couple weeks ago we had a wedding that due to the speeches was very late. We coordinated with the events team on site and worked out a way we could get some stuff set up and seven som stuff in the hall with disrupting the meal. We got it pretty much bang on time when it looked like it was going to be very late

I think that's really down to the audience, however we've been super fortunate that we have busy dance floors night after night. Of course there will be points that might be quieter , say after the ceilidh when everyone is catching there breath but that's a great spot for a more laid back crowd pleaser like stand by me or Tennessee whiskey to get different set of people up on the floor. Its all about reading the room

We usually end with Caledonia and then Loch Lomond. Sometimes people ask for different songs and were happy to accommodate. this is especially relevant to couple who have came from abroad to get married. We always double check this from the begging of gathering the couples info

We totally welcome song suggestions however we advise all couples to let us craft the set as much as possible. Years of playing gigs has given us a great insight into what works and keeps a crowd on the dancefloor. 

If there’s a song or two in our set that you don’t want to hear you can let us know too, but cutting lots of songs is never a great idea. Remember there might a song on there that isn’t your favourite, but it could be one that gets the rest of the dance floor bouncing! 

Yes of course ?. Our goal is to tailor each night around making it as special as we can for every couple and pulling off the perfect cover of your first dance is a big part of that! Although we don’t take offence if you’d prefer the original recording played either.

Yeah of course. If we know the song we’ll play it and the odd time if it’s not one we’re 100% on but we feel we can pull it off, we’ll let our old busking skills kick in!

So usually we schedule rehearsals and we plan a couple weeks in advance for a few reasons. Number 1 is we re extremely busy with weddings so it has to be planned in advance. Number 2 it keeps the song fresh in our minds and leads to a tighter performance on the night. I think a great first dance choice is one that has meaning to the couple but I also think it's good if it's something you can dance to in the way you see fit. Some couples like traditional slow dances, other like full on upbeat and others like both, slow to start into a fast arrangement. This is something we've done many times as it catches the crowd of guard and it's a really surprise. We've coordinated with fx teams to make the big drop happen at the right time, cold sparks or confetti cannons going of for example.

In some instances the couple want the original version played. Maybe due to huge orchestral parts or so that the timing of a choreographed dance perfectly match what they've practised. We of course are just as happy to provide this, we still introduce the couple, wedding party and guests just the same. We do however always ask for details of the dances so we can download them to avoid any playback issues or relying on hotel wifi. Sometimes couples have specials put together mixes of the tracks, for example a candlelight version of a song into a full on dance version, we always request this is sent to us prior so we can make sure the playbacks flawless and its played through our great sounding PA system

We've gathered a great understanding of what songs are good for various stages of the night, 1st & 2nd half opening 4 songs, and the same for closing the sets too. We are obsessed with keeping the floor busy and we've tried and tested many songs, we've kept the red hot floor fillers and the tracks that maybe didn't land quite as we'd hoped we keep on the spares list in case they are asked for. We realise that 100 guests means 100 different tastes ands we pride ourselves in getting that balance consistently right. We always advise our couples that its way more helpful to tell us what Bands, artists and songs they are into to than to send a list of songs to cut although we appreciate that some songs have to be cut for emotional reasons such as connection to bereavement etc. Also we appreciate that there may be songs thy just can't stand, I guess we ask for a little understanding on this part although we do everything we can to accommodate our couples needs. As far as arrangements we would learn or ones we wouldn't, this is largely down to the arrangement. If the couple love a song with massive strings, choir harmonies then that would require us to put our own take on it or in the case that the couple are wanting to keep to the original sound we'd recommend they consider using the original recording which we would queue up and announce the very same way as we would if we played it live

Really the skies the limit. We've had some pretty to the second planned first dances, dance floor fx like coldsparks, confetti cannons etc. When it comes to dances like this we got in to deep detail to get it spot on

Yes we call up the bride and groom , and we make a point of checking how they'd like to be announced. Usually we get the rest of the wedding party up after the first chorus, although there has been variations to this. The couple being nervous and wanting people up quickly or say a choreographed dance routine with specific time prompts

We’ve got a several options to cover you through till 1am. We offer a DJ set, Ibiza Sax Set or the band can play for the extra hour. 

As well as putting on an incredible show for your evening reception, we’ve also got you covered for daytime entertainment too. We offer a 2 hour daytime set as either a solo (John on vocals with acoustic guitar) or duo (adding on our sax player).

We also offer an incredible ceilidh option, ourbass player Dave is also a very talented fiddler player.

Alan our sax player can also offer an Ibiza style set too, playing sax to some dance floor fillers – this goes down a storm! 

We keep the gap between the live set and the DJ set as minimal as possible, a few seconds. we achieve the by woking as team to set this up. For example is were doing the ibiza sax set, John alters the sound setting for the sax (because the ex's are different for the set) and Jack questions up the first track. Everyone know their jobs like the back of their hand

Our energy on stage, we give it 110% every night! 

So many couples comment on how well we get on as a band too and that chemistry definitely translates on the dance floor. That good energy mixed with strong crowd interaction, and high-level musicianship keeps crowds hooked song after song.  

We all love very different music but agree on the principals of what defines great music and musicians. 

That covers everything from Prince to Paolo Nutini, Artic Monkeys to Dua lipa, Stevie Wonder to Muse, Harry Styles to Oasis. We really collectively love music in general!

Id say the sign of a good night is a happy bride and groom coming up ass saying we made their night. that in turn makes ours. When you can hear thee crowd calling for on more or when theres that buzz in the air afterwards you know that the atmosphere you set out to create has been there. It's such a buzz for us

Usually how pleased they are with our performance and how the night went. We often get compliments on how we've put together a first dance, especially if they've asked us to modify to suit their idea. But the best compliment we consistently get is "It was just like being at a gig" and I know what they mean by that. We try to bring a cool vibe, to whip the crowd in to a frenzy. We keep our identity as a band and that's what The Rox are all about

It's so hard to answer this question. Id say some of our favourite moments have been Brides, grooms, or just part of the wedding party joining us for a song and surprising the hell out of us, we've had brides taking drum lessons prior to perform a song, grooms bringing the house down with their rendition of a song and members of the wedding party dueting with John. We've seem many heartfelt moments as well as Manu hilarious moments too. It's a big part of why we love playing in the band

We can provide up to 30mins of live ceilidh. 

What really makes our ceilidh set unique is David our bass player, who also plays the fiddle - giving you a traditional ceilidh instrument within the band, without the added cost of hiring in an extra player! 

For us you really can’t beat the feel of live ceilidh and we'll make sure we walk and talk your guests through each dance too.

In all honesty I don't know how but the Ceilidh takes care of itself. We don't ever have an issue getting people up. We have a little banter sometimes to get that one more person up that we need for say a dashing white Sgt. John will talk everyone through the steps, he's refined the delivery of this over the years to something that s easy for people form all countries to understand . not just folks from the UK

We would get the couple to email us at theroxband247@gmail.com, then we would send a list of questions and Information to them to gather all the details for their event

John our band leader handles all emails, questions and admin. The questions and information for we send has been put together over many years to cover all aspects that were involved in at the event. Typically the info sent back can be straight forward and I'll fill this in the calendar for every band member to be able to read over in advance. More complicated or detailed replies I'll always double check with client just to make sure we have everything on point. In the rare instance I feel like there has to be a deeper dive I'll organise a call

The couples we've been booked by often email us simply to double check alls is well for their big day. However in most instances the communications been enough and its more or less signed off with both ourselves and the couple saying they're looking forward to meeting and or course to the wedding itself

Id simply say you're in very safe hands with not only ourselves but with Coast entertainment's. We've a log standing Buisness relationship since 2008 and year after year we've played hundreds of weddings for delighted couples. As a band we are very close friends, this has created a sense of care for it. We want the band to be the best it can be and for each couple to be nothing short of ecstatic at the end of their wedding
