Platinum Band FAQs
Check your date & priceLogistics & Setup
We're complete flexible on timings and we’re happy to fit in with any individual requirements.
We've played most venues in Scotland and experienced pretty much every issue along the way. We are confident we can adapt to any problem as we have always been able to do this previously. We would carry out our own due diligence well before a function to check any venue we haven't been at for any potential issues.
We are in direct contact with the venue or wedding planner prior to the event.
We have a roster of experienced musicians that we have previously worked with who we can call on to fill in if a band member is ill. Fortunately this is a rare event.
Initially we contact staff members to advise them we have arrived. Once we gain access to the venue we will set up our equipment and soundcheck if possible prior to the guests entering the room.
We arrive at 6.30pm to allow plenty of time to get set up. We always build this into our schedule regardless of how far the venue is away from our base.
We can adapt to sound limiters and have done so in the past. Our drummer can deploy an electronic kit.
On the Night
Usual break length is around 30 minutes, and we supply background music. If you wish you can provide us with a playlist of your favourite songs.
The band are always smartly turned out, we don't wear any casual clothing when performing. We like to think we would blend into the wedding reception if we were guests.
We have a large range of songs that we can utilise at any point during the evening to reflect the mood of the audience.
We structure the set to accommodate peaks and troughs of energy throughout the evening. An example would be if we are playing a ceilidh number we generally follow this with a slow dance to allow everyone to get their breath back before building the tempo back up again.
We would generally play any request we know, if not we add the request to the playlist we use during the break.
We certainly will make any announcements that are requested. We generally let the music do the talking with some light chat in between.
We have played hundreds of weddings in Scotland and have encountered most issues. Fortunately technical issues are very rare but we have back ups of virtually everything. We often have to adapt our schedule if a meal runs late. We normally reduce the length of our break and sometimes play later, if possible.
The dance floor is generally full for the whole evening, there are periods where it's quieter but we have curated a set of songs which are proven floor fillers so it's not usually quiet for long.
We normally finish with 500 miles and Loch Lomond with crowd interaction. This finishes the evening on a high.
Your Music & Personalisation
Please see our posts on Facebook where there are many examples of us performing first dance choices.
The band can all read music so we have no issues learning 99% of first dance choices. We can learn them very quickly if required. Danielle can also sing in a wide range which can cover most songs. We generally arrange the song as per the original version but sometimes the client has a specific request, sometimes to join two songs together which we are usually able to accommodate. Sometimes a client will want the original version of a song played via our sound system which we can provide as well.
We can accommodate some additional requests. If we are unable to play the song we can offer to provide the original version over our sound system at the break.
We often get requests for a Father-Daughter dance and sometimes a Mother-Son. We can provide songs appropriate for these dances. If a couple want specific songs in the set we can do this as well as leaving out any songs or artists they don't like.
We always chat with the couple and any wedding coordinator prior to the start of the evening and will fit in with their exact wishes regarding the first dance and when they want others to join them.
Extras & Add-ons
We start any DJ set as the last chord is ringing out from the live set. This maintains the energy until the end of the evening.
The Band
We get completely lost in the performance and love to jam out - making every show unique to your event.
Clients love that we are approachable from booking to discuss and tailor our set list and break playlists to their specific tastes.
No genre or decade is off limits with Platinum Band who are well versed in adapting our set list to ensure a crowded dancefloor.
You can generally tell from the energy in the room that it's been a good night. You often get audience members talking to you regarding what they thought of the band and some of these are shown on our social media pages.
All weddings are memorable
Ceilidh
We can provide an exceptional fully live and dance called ceilidh set.
We can do up to 5 different ceilidh dances, so potentially 45 mins of material.
We offer a live ceilidh set of up to 5 dances. Our guitarist Leigh is an experienced ceilidh caller and can usually get even the most reluctant guest up for a dance. He can talk everyone through the steps. We normally have a couple of practice runs before the full ceilidh starts so everyone is up to speed.
Booking & Planning
When a booking is confirmed it is allocated a dedicated page in our diary. This initially shows the date of the reception, the names of the couple, the venue details and the contact details for the booking. The diary page is updated with relevant information as it's received. There is a forward reminder put in place to contact the clients around 10 weeks before the function.
Initial contact is normally by email but we also use messaging and telephone according to the client's preference. This is normally carried out by Danielle.
We contact the venue to confirm the timings prior to leaving for the engagement.
Platinum Band is comprised of 5 people who are passionate about giving you the best live music experience on your big day. All our music is played live, there are no pre-recorded elements to it and we think this is reflected by the passion we convey for playing and entertaining your guests. Danielle is also one of the finest vocalists in Scotland.
