The Band That Joins the Party
Most wedding bands perform from the stage. The Hype perform from everywhere. Frontman David commands the room with a vocal range that shifts from Sam Fender grit to Elvis warmth in the space of a set, while guitarist Kenny goes wireless and brings the solos straight to the dancefloor, light-up guitar and all. Across 75 five-star reviews spanning four years, the same line keeps appearing: "even people who never dance were up dancing." That's not a coincidence. That's what happens when a band treats your wedding like their own party.
Five Musicians, Five Vocalists
The Hype are a five-piece: lead vocals, guitar, bass, keys, and drums. What makes the lineup unusual is that every member can take lead vocals, giving the set a depth and variation most bands can't match. David anchors the front with natural stage presence and the kind of energy that pulls a room in from the first note, while the vocal rotation keeps the sound fresh across a full evening.
138 Songs and a Setlist That Genuinely Surprises
The repertoire spans 138 tracks with a range broader than you'd expect from any five-piece. One moment it's Frankie Valli, the next it's Metallica. Arctic Monkeys into Mumford and Sons. Lewis Capaldi followed by AC/DC. It creates what couples and guests consistently describe as a "musical journey" where every corner of the room finds something to love. You can pick favourites from the setlist, flag songs you'd rather skip, and request your first dance learned live.
Kenny on the Dancefloor
The signature moment guests talk about the morning after is Kenny appearing in the middle of the dancefloor with his wireless guitar, light-up fretboard glowing, delivering solos face-to-face with your guests. Part rock concert, part house party. Add in the conga lines, bride-vs-groom dance-offs, and guests getting handed the mic for an impromptu sing-along, and you get a band that turns your reception into something people genuinely don't want to end.
What's Included
Full PA, professional lighting, and a smoke machine (venue and fire alarms permitting). Standard performance runs from 8pm to around 11pm with a ceilidh set built in. The ceilidh comes in two flavours: a live rock ceilidh with booming drums and guitars, or a more traditional feel with classic tracks. Both are fully called and guided. Background music plays through every break, and a DJ extension with karaoke is available through to 1am. Timings are flexible and built around your day, not the other way around.
What Couples Say
Across 75 reviews, the patterns are consistent: packed dancefloors from first song to last, venue coordinators singling them out as one of the best bands they've worked with, and guests who "never dance" up on their feet all night. The word that appears more than any other is "interaction." The Hype don't just play to a crowd, they pull people in, read the room, and adapt on the fly. Kenny handles all pre-wedding planning and is consistently described as responsive, accommodating, and easy to work with.
Who They're Perfect For
If your priority is a reception where every guest is on their feet, the energy never dips, and the band feels less like hired entertainment and more like the life of the party, The Hype are built for exactly that.
