The Band That Plays Like They're in the Crowd
The Upbeats are a four-piece who perform with the kind of energy you normally only get from people on the other side of the stage. Adam on vocals and guitar, backed by bass, keys, and drums, they play every set like it is their favourite night out. That enthusiasm is not a gimmick: it is the thing couples and guests mention first, last, and most often. When your audience is playing air guitar and air drums back at you, you know the energy is landing.
The Sound
The Upbeats' DNA sits in late 90s and early 2000s indie rock. Foo Fighters, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, Blink-182: the bands you would have seen headlining T in the Park. That influence gives their live sound a weight and edge that cuts through, even on the big crowd-pleasers. But this is not a rock band doing weddings as a side project. The setlist runs to 81 tracks and covers everything from Beatles and Elvis through Stevie Wonder and Gloria Gaynor to Ed Sheeran and George Ezra. The indie rock backbone just means that when they hit Mr Brightside or Livin' on a Prayer, it sounds like a headline set, not a covers band running through the motions.
Setlist and Personalisation
81 songs across rock, indie, pop, Motown, country, and Scottish standards. Couples can pick and exclude from the setlist, and The Upbeats will learn additional requests including first dances. Reviews consistently note how well they deliver learned songs, with one couple choosing their first dance just two days before the wedding and the band nailing it on the night. On the dancefloor, Adam reads the room and adjusts in real time, leaning into whatever is getting the strongest response from guests.
Your Set, Recorded
The Upbeats have recently upgraded to a digital desk, which means they can record the live audio from your set and share highlights afterwards. Your first dance, the moment the floor erupted during 500 Miles, whatever the standout moments were: you get to keep them. It is a small detail that most bands do not offer, and couples who have experienced it say it adds something genuinely special to the memories.
What's Included
The Upbeats perform from 8pm to midnight as standard, with flexibility on timings to suit your venue schedule. Full PA and lighting are included, with setup and soundcheck handled within an hour. Background music runs through the PA during the 30-minute break. Optional add-ons include a DJ extension until 1am playing club-style tracks, a guided ceilidh set with dances taught and called live, and daytime music for your ceremony or drinks reception featuring instrumental piano or acoustic guitar.
What Couples Say
Across reviews spanning a decade, the same themes repeat: dancefloors packed from the first song, energy that pulls even reluctant dancers in, and a band that feels like part of the wedding rather than a hired act. Guests describe feeling like they are at a gig rather than a function, and couples consistently highlight how easy communication was in the lead-up. The Upbeats ask what you want and what you do not, then deliver a night built around your answers.
Who They're Perfect For
The Upbeats suit couples who want a high-energy guitar band with real musical credibility, the kind of set where indie anthems sit alongside crowd-pleasing classics and the energy never drops. If your ideal wedding night sounds like the best gig you have ever been to, this is the band that delivers it.
